In
1965 Skylark GS was Buick's answer to the
Pontiac GTO. With a four barrel V-8 and 10.25.1 compression, the
1965
Skylark GS tested by motor trend in May 1965 had a top speed of 116 mph.
Buick engineers said the
1965 Skylark GS was completely different than
the regular specials because of a three body styles- coupe, hard top and ragtop
or convertible. They used a beefed-up ragtop type strain that resisted torqued
flexing.
Other features of the first
Skylark transport included H. D. Upper and troll arm
bushings, dual exhausts and six choices a rare axle ratios.
